A few tips when building up your first disc braked BMX race bike, make sure first of all you have a hub that can take disc rotor. It sounds simple, but this is your first consideration. If not, shop here for our disc brake hubs.

Next, check that the frame that you are wanting to install the brake set up on can accept a disc brake mount. Frame manufacturers will usually specify whether it's possible and often make disc caliper mounts for their frames.

Now, the type of caliper mount you are using (or what is supplied with the frame/built in on the frame) determines what stye of disc caliper you need to use. Basically there are two types, post mount and flat mount. Without going into a lot of detail, what you need to do is make sure your mount type and your caliper type are the same. Post mount to post mount, flat mount to flat mount. There are adapters that can convert flat mount mounts to a post mount set up, but not the other way. Find these products here.

Disc rotors. Generally BMX race bikes use a 120mm or a 140mm rotor size and this is something you need to clarify before ordering.
