Here's the performance mini hub offering from Excess that has a couple of surprises up its sleeve. The Excess Mini-Expert Rear Hub 120R has a 28 hole configuration which is perfectly suited for anything from expert wheels, down to minis and micros. This is the hub to choose when building a high-end wheelset for you custom race bike, with the added advantage that it can be configured as a disc brake hub with the purchase of centre-lock disc adapter to future-proof your bike.
As it's becoming more and more common to see disc brake options being offered on after-market frames, even down to the junior sizes, if you choose this rear hub from Excess, you can rest easy knowing that if you upgrade the frame, you can choose a disc-brake only frame without having to build another set of wheels. You simply convert this hub, add the disc brake system and your pocket rocket will have one finger stopping power. It actually makes more sense for the youngsters to run discs with their yet-to-develop wrist and finger strength.
An alloy driver means that this hub is a tad lighter than its little brother, the 24R, and with 120 ratchets outer ring, it also hooks up seemlessly when you lay on the power.
