It's been a minute, but Box is back in the handlebar business! Truth is, they never went anywhere, but with the production disruptions we saw in 2020-2022 allowed a few companies to reassess and update the designs of their key product lines and Box Components did just that with their oversized chromoly bars.
One of the first BMX brands to drop into the oversized world, a term simply referring to a clamp size of 31.8mm, Box was in this space way before we saw it adopted later than other BMX companies. Perhaps they were ahead of their time, but now they are back with a new, clean design and a finish that we really dig.
A 31.8mm bar and stem combo equates to increasing the rigidity of the front end of your race bike, especially in the upward movement of the bars as you pull that bike out of the gate and accelerate down the hill. With each pedal stroke you're essentially trying to pull the bars out of the frame and push the cranks down out of the bottom bracket. What we're trying to say is that there is a LOT of opposing forces that your bike is trying to deal with. The 31.8mm set helps combat this at the top end.
