The Round Up - Episode 10

Welcome to Episode 10 of the LUXBMX Round Up, where we present to you the very latest news, videos, sponsorship updates, competition/jam reports and all things awesome in the BMX world.

In some exciting news, young gun Will Green has finalised a new video for his sponsor Subrosa/Triple 6 distributions and it's premiering in-store this Wednesday the 14 June. Will has been putting in work for this and as his first feature video part, it is certainly a momentous occassion for the young fella and not one to be missed. The video has been shot and cut by our own Tim Storey so you know you have something quality to look forward to. Come and check it out, meet a bunch of the crew and enjoy a mid-week jaunt, things will start kicking off about 530pm.

Once again the LUXBMX content crew are in a real mood, this time showcasing another drop of apparel, being the 2023 winter range. Through interest from our base, we've responded with a limited range of killer pieces including an unquestionably fresh hoodie, the introduction of a line of beanies as well as a footy inspired long-sleeve tee. This range is fresh in-store and not likely to spend much time on the shelves. Get up on the online store to cop a piece and for more hype, exchange 41 seconds of your life for a viewing of the boys as they put the range to work. Comfort awaits my friends.

The LUXBMX journal was recently updated to feature a piece on our elite racers, Izaac Kennedy and Rico Bearman, who recently tore through the purpose built BMX track in Sakarya, Turkey for the start of the 2023 UCI BMX Racing World Cup. The boys, pictured below at a separate race event, flew the LUXBMX flag with a competitive edge and honourable spirit and were rewarded with the results. To find out more, check out the journal article

In more race news, our West Oz shredder Declan Mcghee recently headed out to Kalgoorlie (a 7 hour drive east from Perth) to take part in Round 5 of the 2023 Western Australia state series. The current national champion (and world Number 2) in the 14 year old boys category, Declan took out the win in the 14+ pro-am flat pedal challenge as well as winning every single lap in the junior superclass men and 17-24 men. That's a lot of categories and a lot of winning. Check out the kid below and look out for more Declan content in the near future.

In the final piece of BMX race content, let's get hyped on some recent custom shop builds. Master mechanic and CEO Evan is constantly wielding his wizardy in the workshop, his happy place. Check these whips out:

Damn this thing looks good. Above we have a Chase ACT 1.2 for the young bloke Bentley, who is (understandably) a fan of Izaac Kennedy. This carbon frame is kitted with all the sickest race gear and is now exactly where it should be, under the care of a passionate BMX racer

What a build this is, gets the heart pumping thanks to a slew of quality components and the backing of a sleek, poised and aesthetically brilliant design. This is a Speedco Velox V3 Junior which is now tearing through the dirt in South Australia. The subtle gold and green matte finish is a lovely touch

Check this steed out (above and below), unique to say the least. This is a blacked out Wethepeople 'Audio' which has had a disc brake fitted, very much a custom arrangement. Disc brakes are typically linked with non-freestyle bikes and provide more responsive and consistent stopping power. I can't recall seeing this before, well done to Ev and long-time friend of the store Reece who had the original idea

Back to freestyle. Another Round Up episode, another skatepark opening. At the intersection of alternative, wealth and vanity, just off the M1 south of the border you might find yourself at the heart of Australia's self-appointed spiritual home, Byron Bay. Cynicism aside, well done to Byron Shire Council, the NSW Government and Convic for designing and delivering another incredible facility. If you're up for a roadtrip, this would be a perfect opportunity to get out and about with your mates. The park is located at 1 Gilmore Crescent, approximately one block back from Main Beach.

Boy this has been a busy episode! Wrapping up with news of a jam and premiere happening this Saturday the 17 June down on the southern edge of the Gold Coast. Hosted by LUXBMX pro Cody Pollard, the day will involve a jam at Tweed Heads skatepark followed by a premiere of the latest Fast and Loose video 'Magneta' which is going down at the Iron & Resin Garage (just up the road at Stewart Road, Currumbin Waters). Sight the flyer and trailer below, I challenge you to not get excited!
